Getting Older doesn’t have to include Getting Glasses

November 25th, 2009 admin 1 comment

As we all inevitably age, so do our eyes. This is reflected in the slow natural degeneration of the eye’s ability to focus on near objects, called Presbyopia. This explains why most middle-aged people need to get reading glasses after being caught holding the newspaper at arm’s length. Common symptoms of presbyopia are decreased focusing ability for near objects, eyestrain and headache. If this sounds anything like you or someone you know, it may be time you to look into treatment for this progressive condition.

At Siems Advanced Lasik Eye Center in Las Vegas, they offer complete eye care for this and all other optic conditions. Dr. Siems and his staff would love to meet with you to not only give you a complete eye exam, but to suggest options for treatment. If you think you are suffering from presbyopia or another condition, you have several options for treatment. Glasses are not the only way. Lasik surgery has been proven to correct this inevitable condition quickly, painlessly and without the need for costly contact lenses or glasses.

Need an alternative to Lasik surgery?

November 12th, 2009 admin No comments

If unfortunately you are not a candidate for Lasik surgery because of thin corneas or a high prescription, you may still be able to become free of optical aides such as glasses and external contacts. Unlike traditional contact lenses, an implantable contact lens is surgically placed in front of the eye’s natural lens and works with the natural lens to correct your vision. These thin, pliable lenses can be an alternative to LASIK surgery and are used to correct conditions that laser surgery may be unable to correct, such as extreme myopia (nearsightedness). The ICL procedure is virtually pain free and has a 95 percent success rate. This surgical technique takes approximately 10 to 15 minutes and the contact lens is permanent, alleviating the hassle of daily contacts and glasses. Dr. Siems successfully implanted ICLs in his own nephew. To learn more about ICL’s or to ask Dr. Siems a question, please Click Here.

Siems will Match Any Price on Lasik Surgery

October 26th, 2009 admin 1 comment

Siems Advanced Lasik and Eye Center will match any price on lasik surgery, because we know that the difference isn’t in the price it’s in the surgeon.  Dr. Siems is one of the most recognizable names in the field of refractive surgery. As his credentials will show, he has been a pioneer in refractive surgery serving as a principal investigator for 3 large FDA trials. He was selected as one of the first surgeons in the United States to investigate the surgical correction of presbyopia. He is a contributing co-author of a seminal book on the subject. Dr. Siems is also one of the most experienced refractive surgeons in the United States. He has performed many thousands of Lasik and lens-based (cataracts) surgeries. Dr. Siems was one of the first 5 doctors in the United States to use the IntraLase onsite.

Dr. Siems previously served as Director of the UCLA Los Angeles Inland Laser Center, the LCA San Bernardino Laser Center, the Ontario Laser Center, and the Laser Vision Institute of Las Vegas. These experiences have allowed Dr. Siems to open what some in the field of refractive surgery claim is the most advanced Lasik and refractive surgery center in the U.S.

Siems Advanced Lasik Center has been featured extensively in the news. This includes newspaper, radio and television air time.  Call (702) 948-2010 or visit us at http://www.siemslasik.com/ today to schedule an appointment.

We will match any price on lasik surgery because when it comes to your vision, the surgeon should make the difference, not the price.

Cataract Symptoms and Treatment

October 20th, 2009 admin 2 comments

Is your vision getting blurry, do you see halo’s around lights when you drive at night?  If you feel like you’re looking through a cloudy window or if your eyes are growing more sensitive to light, you may be developing cataracts, a clouding of the eye’s lens.  The lens is made up of mostly water and protein, arranged in a way that allows light to pass through the clear lens.  Cataracts develop when the protein clumps together and clouds the lens.

The two leading causes of cataracts include age and diabetes.  The normal process of aging may cause the lens to harden and turn cloudy. In fact, 90% of all cataracts occur as part of the aging process.  Cataracts can begin to form as early as age 40, and by age 65 about half of all adults either have a cataract or have had cataract surgery.  Diabetes, especially when the blood sugar levels are above the safe range, causes changes in the eye that can also result in cataracts.

The only treatment for cataracts is surgery.  Cataract removal is a simple, outpatient surgery that lasts approximately 10 minutes. It is one of the most common surgeries performed in the United States, and considered one of the safest and most effective types of medical procedures. In about 90 percent of cases, people who have had cataract surgery reported better vision after undergoing treatment.

Surgery involves removing the cloudy lens and replacing it with an artificial lens.  Siems Advanced Lasik and Eye Care Center in Las Vegas is proud to offer our patients the latest in replacement lens technology that allows patients to see both at distance and near, without the use of glasses.  Through the use of a restor lens, you can see near and far once again!  Ask Dr. Siems about the Restor Lens, and find out how you can restore your vision.
